Pope Francis has appointed Cardinal Mario Grech, who is secretary general of the Synod of Bishops, as a member of the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments.

The announcement was made by the Holy See press office at the Vatican on Wednesday.

The Holy Father has also appointed the following as members of the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments:

The Prefect of this Congregation of the Roman Curia, which is based at Palazzo delle Congregazioni, Rome, is Archbishop Arther Roche, Bishop Emeritus of Leeds, England.

It handles most affairs relating to liturgical practices of the Latin Church, rather than the Eastern Catholic Churches, as well as some technical matters relating to the sacraments.
