The Work Trial Scheme For Youths has been launched for the sixth year for young people to have the opportunity this summer to experience the world of work with private entities or voluntary organisations.
The scheme is also aimed at helping young people between the ages of 16 and 20 in choosing their career and gain experience for the future.
Launched by Gozo Minister Clint Camilleri, he said that the world of work is changing drastically, with careers that are totally new and far from the so-called traditional ones, meaning that students, who will be the workers of tomorrow, need to be trained and informed of the great opportunities that exist.
Through this scheme, students will have an income of €90 per week, with a total of €450 over five weeks.
The Ministry will be paying employers up to 20 hours a week, then the employer can choose to incentivise these young people and continue the employment or increase their hours.
The scheme will run for five weeks between the 1st of August and the 2nd of September.
Applications open on Monday, the 4th of July and close at noon on Friday, the 8th of July.
Applications and other information will be available online from the website www.mgoz.gov.mt or from the mobile app ‘mygozo.’
