“The Police Force is in a very bad situation and the Nationalist Party calls for the necessary changes to strengthen it,” the Party said in a statement.
PN Spokespersons Joe Giglio and Ivan Castillo said in the statement that, “not only is morale low, but the sense of demotivation has spread everywhere. We are in a worrying and dangerous situation, where we are seeing almost more Police leaving the Corps than new recruits.”
“The Nationalist Party feels that the working conditions of the Police need to be improved so that, instead of an exodus of Police, more people will be attracted to the Corps,” they said.
The PN expressed its solidarity with all members of the Corps, who it said, “are facing the worst situation they have ever been in, with poor working conditions, low wages and no support from the Government to create the the change the Police Force needs.”
Giglio and Castillo stressed that “with crime on the rise and the Government not addressing the problems it has created itself, the people are losing their trust in the Corps.”
