A new sectoral agreement has been signed by the Health Ministry and the UHM Voice of the Workers, covering the next five years, for Emergency Ambulance Responders employed with the public sector.
This agreement ensured, inter alia, specialised training for the career advancement of existing workers and for new recruits, improvements in allowances, and above all, better service for patients, the Ministry said.
The agreement was signed by the Permanent Secretary to the Ministry of Health Joseph Chetcuti and the Chief Government Physician Walter Busuttil on behalf of the Ministry, and Josef Vella, Mario Sacco, and Charles Vella on behalf of the UHM.
Health Minister Chris Fearne, who chaired the signing, welcomed the agreement and pointed out that the emphasis on training would allow health authorities to invest in the latest technology related to this department which translates into better service for patients in the crucial moments after a medical emergency has arisen.
