Next month, the special Gozo Edition of the Malta International Food Festival returns to Xewkija Square and will be taking place on Friday, the 5th and Saturday, the 6th of August, from 6pm both evenings.
Minister for Gozo Clint Camilleri, announcing this 5th edition of the popular street food festival, said that it will have something for all tastes, bringing people together through a love of food, and urged everyone go along and experience foods, not just from Gozo, but from all over the world.
Visitors will have the opportunity to taste “authentic Asian cuisines, quality Mediterranean delights, best of Europe and genuine Gozitan delicacies.” In fact, there will be more than 100 different dishes served by around 20 exhibitors.
The Minister speaking about the festival, which he said attracts Gozitans, Maltese and tourists alike, said that “food is an integral part of our Maltese culture and society and for many it is an opportunity for unity where as a community we celebrate what unites us.’
There will be brewery stands and special wines available for a tasting experience, all accompanied by a special set of live musicians on both evenings.
Not forgetting dessert lovers, there will be an overwhelming choice of Gozitan sweets and home-made ice creams, to name just a few.
There will also be a special area set up for children which will include “food suitable for them,”
Entrance to the food festival is free of charge – the organisers said that patrons need to purchase tokens and redeem for any of the prepared dishes that they would like to try.
Malta Public Transport will be offering a shuttle service from the Mgarr Ferry Terminal to the Xewkija Square through route 323. Malta Public Transport will operate a special service till 1am of the following day
