Three Gozitans become National Champions for the first time

Three Gozitans cyclists have become new National Champions in their respective categories of the Road Race organised by the Maltese Cycling Federation.
Ishmael Grima of Shamrock Stars finished as National under-16 Champion with a total of 400 points as he also won last Sunday’s race at the circuit of Tax-Xhajma, Nadur. Liam Daly (Shamrock Stars) finished as National Champion under the age of 12 Boys with a total of 200 points, and teammate Nina Debono finished as National Champion under 12 Girls also with a total of 200 points. Both have won their respective races of last Sunday.
Meanwhile, in the last race held at Nadur, Stefan Scerri of Gozo CC won his category when he completed his twelfth lap at a time of 1:43:24.25.
In the same race at Tax-Xhajma Nadur of last Sunday, other Gozitans finished on the podium, Matthew Galea (Gozo CC) finished second in the Under 16 category and Isaac Buttigieg of Shamrock Stars finished third in the Under 12 Boys category.
At the end of these races the medals were awarded to the winners by Edward Said, Mayor of Nadur, who was assisted by John Zammit and Joe Bajada, President and Secretary General respectively of the Maltese Cycling Federation.
