An Ode in Stone – Sculpture Exhibition by Joe Xuereb

Well known, Gozitan sculptor, Joe Xuereb has been invited as “Artist in Residence’ for September and he will be exhibiting a collection of his recent sculptures in the Gardens and the Bastion Pool area at the Phoenicia Malta.
An Ode in Stone – will showcase figurative sculptures in the unique and modernist style of the artist. Xuereb, who, inspired by Malta’s Prehistoric past and human emotions and conditions, expresses with great simplicity today’s reality.
These works executed in Maltese stone, convey great beauty with powerful messages. His sculptures are highly symbolical and spiritual. Around 20 of Xuereb’s larger limestone sculptures will be on display for the exhibition.
The artist said that he continuously searches for purity of form and a combination of the figurative and abstraction.
The exhibition is curated by Prof. Louis Laganà and inaugurated by Prof. Joe Friggieri and will run from the 6th till the 30th of September.
Joe Xuereb was born in June 1954 and lives in Ghajnsielem where he runs his own Sculpture Gallery which has already been visited by clients from over 70 countries.
His works are found in private collections ranging from Germany, France, Holland, Italy, Switzerland, Spain, United Kingdom, South Africa, Australia and to Florida, California and Minnesota in the U.S.A.
