Better access to Chinese therapies for those with rare conditions

Patients with rare conditions will now have better access to Chinese traditional therapies.
This follows the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the National Alliance for Rare Disease Support-Malta and the Mediterranean Regional Centre for Traditional Chinese Medicine.
Patients with a rare disease living in Malta will be benefiting from therapies offered by the Centre.
The MOU was signed by Michelle Muscat, Founder and President of the National Alliance for Rare Diseases Support Malta and Mr Chen Weifang, Director of the Mediterranean Regional Centre for Traditional Chinese Medicine, in the presence of HE Mr Yu Dunhai Ambassador of The People’s Republic of China.
The Mediterranean Regional Centre for Traditional Chinese Medicine is a renowned and respected medical institution which has serviced Maltese patients for decades, with some of the best expertise sent directly by the Chinese government to Malta.
The National Alliance for Rare Disease-Malta and Mediterranean Regional Centre for Traditional Chinese Medicine, said that with the increasing awareness of the rare disease community, and in order to better provide convenient, efficient and safe medical services to rare disease patients living in Malta, they look forward to further strengthening mutual ties and cooperation.
The awareness and access to these therapies will lead to better care and standard of living for patients and their families, they said.
The Memorandum of Understanding signed recently is the result of negotiations between the two parties after friendly consultations and in the “spirit of sincere communication and cooperation.”
