22 Local Councils in Gozo and Malta have benefited from the scheme for the Development and Improvement of Playing Fields, with a fund of €771,000.

This was announced during a news conference on the measures for Budget 2023 in the area of Local and Regional Councils.

The Parliamentary Secretary for Local Government Alison Zerafa Civelli, said that “the Government is committed to continue giving the necessary tools to this area.”

With this in mind, she explained the Government has allocated €5.75 million in financial schemes for Local Councils.

The Parliamentary Secretary also appealed to residents to cooperate with Councils to maintain cleanliness within their localities.

She also said that next year the direct funds for local councils will be increasing by more than half a million euros.
