The Cittadella Rehabilitation and Restoration project has won this year’s Regiostars 15th anniversary edition of Public Choice Award. Unlike in previous years, this year it chose 15 projects, one for each year that it has been organising this competition.

This was announced by the Minister for Gozo Clint Camilleri who said that, “This is an honour for Gozo and for all Maltese people.”

He added that “through this award, once again, the name of our islands was foremost in a prestigious competition, with this project voted the winner out of 300 projects from member countries of the European Union.”

The Minister stated that he is “committed to continuing taking care of our historical heritage, to keep the Cittadella in the best possible condition and I look forward to more such honours.”

The Parliamentary Secretary for European Funds Chris Bonett expressed his satisfaction that this is the first project with European funds to win the Regiostars Award.

“The Cittadella project was carried out with an investment of more than €14 million, of which around €12 million came from the European Fund for Regional Development. Therefore, this is positive news that makes us more determined to continue carrying out more projects with European funds, which Maltese and Gozitan families enjoy,” he said.

The Minister for Gozo Clint Camilleri concluded by thanking the team that worked hard for this result and everyone who contributed to collectively achieve this success for Gozo and for Malta.
