The annual 12-hour charity fund raising marathon L-Istrina is underway at the Kirkop Sports Complex and Villa Rundle Gardens in Victoria, Gozo. Up to around 3pm it had raised €1,000,000.
Boxing Day is now synonymous with the annual 12-hour charity fund raising event, which last year raised just over €5,845,000.
The event is held to raise money in aid of the Malta Community Chest Fund, to be used for those who are less fortunate.
The 12-hour fundraiser, which kicked-off at midday, is being broadcast on all national television stations.
The donation lines remain open and the general public is invited to continue donating on the following numbers: 5190 2030 – €50; 5180 2012 – €25 and SMS: 5061 9201 – €11.65.
