A 68-year old woman sustained grievous injuries on Monday afternoon after she lost control of her car.

Police said that the accident happened at around 3.00pm in Triq ir-Rabat, Xaghra, Gozo.

The woman, who is from Xaghra, was driving a Mazda Demio when she lost control and crashed into a roundabout.

She was assisted at the scene by a medical team before being taken to the Gozo General Hospital.

Police investigations are ongoing.
