1. As part of the Sannat feast celebrations in honor of St Margaret, Gozo Bishop Mario Grech led a concelebrated Mass to mark his priesthood ordination, which was attended by a number of Gozitan migrants.
After Mass Sannat archpriest Can.Tarcisio Camilleri presented Mgr Grech with €500 in aid of charity. A reception was held at the parish centre where Mgr Grech met members of the St Margaret Social Club of Melbourne, Australia. An evening of entertainment by the Ghaqda Drammatika Sannat was held at the church square. Among those taking part were the Daqqaqa Ta’ Seguna and the Sinnet Folk Group.
2. The Vicar General, Monsignor Archdeacon Giovanni B. Gauchi, recently presided over the induction of Monsignor Joseph Cauchi, a Canon of the Cathedral Chapter of Gozo. Mgr Cauchi was previously a member of the collegiate chapter of his native village Nadur.
Mgr Cauchi was successively teacher, prefect, and procurator of the Sacred Heart Seminary, Gozo, where he dedicated the past thirty-three years of his life. He succeeded to transform the over two hundred year old building of the seminary, the former Saint Julian Hospital, into a modern institution without in any way encroaching on its architectural and historical characteristics. He is presently Administrative Secretary of the Diocese of Gozo and rector of the Sanctuary of the Blessed Virgin of Pompeii in Victoria, Gozo.
