890 vehicles were stopped and inspected last night in road-checks carried out by Police and the Armed Forces of Malta.
Police said that, while no major accidents were reported throughout the first night of this year, the road-checks were carried out in several localities across Malta and Gozo.
During these inspections several drivers were fined for violating traffic regulations, including driving without a licence, driving without a seat belt, and driving under the influence.
The Police thanked the public for their cooperation during the road-blocks operation.
