A multisensory room project at Dar Arka, in Ghajnsielem, has been inaugurated by Gozo Minister Clint Camilleri together with the Minister for Inclusion Julia Farrugia Portelli.

The project was completed by the Arka Foundation with financing of €45,000 from the Ministry for Gozo.

This multisensory room contains an interactive device, a television and lights that dim and brighten according to need while also changing colours, along with relaxing music. The room also helps the people who make use of it to improve their physical abilities.

Minister Camilleri explained that it will be used primarily by people with autism or those with any disability.

He stated that as a government it is committed to continue investing in such facilities in order to improve and facilitate the lives of people with disabilities.

This facility had been in existence for several years but needed updating with modern technology, the Minister said. It was therefore decided to rebuild a larger and more spacious room that will be able to be used both by the residents of Dar Arka as well as other disabled persons.

Minister Julia Farrugia Portelli said that this government is continuing to invest in infrastructure in the community linked to inclusion.

She added that the Government has widened the investment criteria in the SensAbility scheme so that every family can apply to have a sensory room in their own home.
