An open day was held at Dar Padova in Ghajnsielem on Friday, attended by Minister for Active Ageing, Jo Etienne Abela.

Discussions also took place between the Department of Active Ageing and Community Care and various service providers on how they can help elderly patients aged over 65 to benefit from the services that are offered at the centre.

In November last year, two new clinics were opened that provide services for those elderly who still live in the community, including offering a vascular clinic service, podiatry, phlebotomy, continence, occupational therapy, psychotherapy and interventions related to dementia among others.

The Minister said that these many services that are offered at Dar Padova will continue to help many Gozitan elders to live within the community.
