The final preparations are underway to ensure that Gozo is ready to welcome the thousands of people, both local and tourists, who will be visiting the island for the very popular Carnival weekend.

With the promise of sunny, dry weather ahead the fun gets underway tomorrow – Friday -when Carnival opens with the Gozo Regional Carnival and the Nadur Spontaneous Carnival.

As already advised, Malta Public Transport is running special bus services to Nadur over the weekend.

The programme for the five days of Carnival fever is as follows:

Friday 17th February 6.00pm: Official opening Grand Defile’ along Republic Street to Independence Square.

Followed by a spectacle of dance companies, grotesque masks and the traditional Komittiva in Independence Square.)

Saturday 18th February 6pm: Defile’ along Republic Street to Independence Square.

Dance spectacle with the participation of dance companies, together with triumphal floats, grotesque masks, “Il-Komittiva” and special guests.Sunday 19th February 3.00pm: Defile’ along Republic Street to Independence Square..

Dance spectacle with the participation of dance companies together with triumphal floats, grotesque masks, bands, “Il-Komittiva” humorous sketches.

Monday 20th February 6.00pm: Defile’ along Republic Street to Independence Square.

Tuesday 21st February 6.00pm: Grand Finale along Republic Street to Independence Square.
