Enemalta said that it has now restored electricity supply to customers in Gozo through an “alternative connection,” after it was tested it to make sure it was not impacted by today’s incident caused by a third-party.
Two cables supplying Gozo were “severely damaged by third party trenching works in Mellieha,” Enemalta said.
The company said that its engineers and technicians are working to repair the damaged 33kV cables as soon as possible.
Enemalta warned that short electricity supply interruptions in parts of Gozo may be required later today, as it completes the ongoing cable works.
The power was lost at around 11.20am and started to be restored on Gozo at around 1.45pm.
The company thanked customers for their cooperation.
