“Prime Minister Robert Abela has been involved in this fraudulent contract because he was a Cabinet Advisor when this whole issue started. In addition, he continued to defend the deal and, as Prime Minister, voted for millions every year from 2020 onwards,” said PN Leader Bernard Grech.
This was the message that came out of a news conference on Saturday morning addressed by the Leader of the Nationalist Party Bernard Grech and the former Opposition Leader Adrian Delia in front of the Gozo General Hospital – one of the hospitals that returned to the Government following the Court’s order issued yesterday at the end of the case opened by Adrian Delia.
The Leader of the PN reiterated that “today everyone knows that Vitals and Steward did not comply with the contract.”
He added “that is why now, in Parliament, Robert Abela will have to accept to discuss the Court’s decision. But this is not enough because one expects Robert Abela and everyone who was responsible to answer for this deal that cost millions from the pockets of Maltese and Gozitans.”
Adrian Delia said that the Labour Government has been promising a new state of the art and world class hospital in Gozo for 10 years, which was supposed to be built in three years, as well as modernisation of San Luqa and Karin Grech Hospitals.
“But despite the fact that Vitals and Steward continued to do nothing of this, the Government renewed their contract and continued to increase their funds each year. And all this happened just to continue defrauding the people,” said Delia.
Adrian Delia reiterated how the Court was clear that Robert Abela was responsible ‘in primis.’ “And although he is saying that he was not involved, everyone knows that this is not true because Robert Abela was a Cabinet Advisor and as a Member of Parliament he voted for Vitals and Steward to be given the millions.”
The Nationalist Party Spokesperson for Gozo Alex Borg and Deputy Chris Said also attended the news conference.
