The Government has said that the Health Authorities “are in a position to immediately operate” the three hospitals in question under the former Steward concession.

The Government, referring to the Steward Health Care statement issued this morning, said that ” it absolutely didnt agree with the reasons given by Steward for the abandonment of the hospitals, and much less with the demands that are being made and will be responding to this in the appropriate fora in the best national interest.”

The Government stated that it once again wanted to reassure employees that “their job is guaranteed.”

It also wanted to give assurance to the pubic, including patients, that they will “continue to receive the highest level of health service and care.”
