The Planning Authority has this week approved the application to reconstruct an historic arched footbridge which previously existed in the Mgarr valley, Ghajnsielem. It will not be re-used as a footbridge.

The Ghajnsielem Mayor Kevin Cauchi, who made the application on behalf of the Local Council, explained that this iconic arch was used in the past as a bridge from Hamri street towards Ta’Passi, whilst the spring of water underneath it was an important source of living for many local families.Historic arched footbridge to be rebuilt in Mgarr Valley, GhajnsielemHe said that this project is part of a larger plan which includes the cleaning of the valley by Eco-Gozo, the reconstruction of Amabile Cauchi playing field, a new storm water infrastructure for water harvesting and the embellishment of the ‘Fuq l-Ghajn’ steps.
