Health Minister Chris Fearne has said that a new Community Health Clinic is to start operating in Qala, however, no commencement date has been given.
The Minister was answering a Parliamentary Question from Opposition MP Chris Said on the call that had been issued recently by the Health Ministry – Leasing of Premises in Qala to House a Community Clinic for the Primary Health Care within the Ministry for Health.
Dr Said asked the cost of the call and for what length of term, as well as where in the past had the community clinic service been operating and why it had stopped.
In his reply, the Health Minister said that following the public call a suitable site was found from where to operate the clinic at a cost in rental of €12,000 per annum.
Dr Fearne added that he had also been informed that the old Qala clinic was not adequate as it was located in one room within a school.
