Bishop of Gozo Anton Teuma led a Mass on Saturday evening in the celebration of the Rite of Blessing of the Unborn Child, which was held in Ta’ Pinu Sanctuary.

Twice a year, Dar Guzeppa Debono and the Anawim Community organise this celebration. One of them takes place in connection with the Solemnity of the Annunciation of the Lord, when Jesus was conceived in the womb of his Mother Mary.

Following this special Mass the expectant parents entered the Chapel of Our Lady to entrust the new life growing in the womb.

As it is still Lent and the water of Baptism still has to be blessed on the Holy Night of Easter, the blessing was done in a different way: Bishop Anton blessed each womb with the laying on of hands or with the sign of the cross.
