Youth hike with BirdLife on Comino for young bird loversBirdLife Malta is organising and exciting and interesting day out for young bird lovers. The NGO is extending an invitation to join them on an unforgettable adventure as the explore the picturesque wildlife landscapes of Comino.

BirdLife said that this birdwatching walk is the perfect opportunity to go out for an enjoyable spring walk in a protected bird sanctuary and learn how to identify birds.

The Youth Hike on Comino is on Sunday, the 16th of April, from 6.30am to 4.00pm. Starting off at the passenger terminal in Cirkewwa at 6:30am, participants will embark on a boat ride to the stunning Comino.

Along the way to the island and during the walk, there will be the opportunity to capture pictures of various bird species, and identify them with the help of bird IDs and seasoned professionals.

Participants will also be attending a bird ringing session at the ornithological station where they can learn about bird migration patterns and the importance of studying them. They will be able to witness the ringing process and get the chance to ask the experts any questions.

After a fun and informative day, there will be a chance to relax and enjoy a picnic together and “bond with like-minded peers, and even compete to see who can identify the most birds from photo,” BirdLife said.

The NGO said that this event is perfect for both experienced birders and those who are curious and want to explore nature in a new way. Don’t miss out on this incredible opportunity to connect with nature and learn more about the fascinating world of birds.

Please note that although the event will be free of charge, boat tickets cost €10 and this fee is to be covered by participants who will pay on site. The capacity of this event is limited to only 20 people so book now to avoid disappointment.

This event forms part of the the It’s Time Erasmus+ project aiming at the creation of a BirdLife International Youth Council that will represent an international community of young people who will develop and lead local initiatives to protect the environment.
