Gozo Minister Clint Camilleri, has given his response to the Court on Monday provisionally upholding a BirdLife Malta request for a prohibitory injunction to stop the Government issuing a legal notice to open Turtle-dove spring hunting until the hearing.
The Minister, who is responsible for hunting, said that the hearing is scheduled on the 18th of April and pointed out that this is “potentially in the middle of the spring hunting season.”
“This manoeuvre has already been used by Birdlife Malta in the past,” Minister Camilleri said, “and once again that is why I, together with the rest of the Government, will be doing our best so that our arguments are convincing enough and this mandate is not confirmed.”
He concluded by saying that, “we want to see that in a democratic state the will of the people is respected – The people are supreme.”

The will of majority of people is against bird slaughter. Camilleri just wants to indulge in his dirty little habit. Shame on him.
