A €2 million agreement has been made for the continuation and strengthening of services provided by the OASI Foundation in Gozo.
This agreement was signed during a visit made by the Minister for Social Policy and Children’s Rights Michael Falzon to the rehabilitation centre which is based in Victoria.
The €2 million agreement, which will be spread over a period of 3 years, will make possible the management of this residence that hosts up to a maximum of 15 beds This Foundation was first established 32-years ago, providing an extensive range of social services in the community intended for people who have fallen victim to addictions.
Care and rehabilitation is provided on a residential basis, as well as other services offered in the community for those people who may not require centralised help.
It was explained that most of the cases include addiction problems related to alcohol, drugs, gambling and ‘behavioural addictions’ such as the exaggerated use of social media.
Minister Michael Falzon said that this programme helps every section of society. “Our goal is to give help without judging, while helping each person find their feet again and to also give support to their family members.”
