A contract has been signed between the Fontana Local Council and Little Rock Quarry Ltd, that will see the final phase of the building of the Civic Centre in Triq ta’ Mulejja, corner with Triq il-Ghajn.

The relative contract was signed on Monday between Mayor Saviour Borg and the Acting Executive Secretary Ms Josianne Cassar on behalf of the Council and Mr Victor Hili on behalf of Little Rock Quarry Ltd.

The Council said that this also signifies the closing of the tendering process related with the building (shell form) that will be totally financed from Council funds at a cost of around €100,000.

Mayor Saviour Borg explained how this final phase is being implemented a considerable number of years after the completion of the previous phases during which the garages, the present Council Office, the public convenience, the community hall, together with part of the council offices standing on the site of fund no: 191 in Triq il-Ghajn, were built.

This was due to legal proceedings related with the devolution process of buildings standing n the corner with Triq il-Ghajn, where it is now possible to proceed with the construction of a more spacious office, a library and other facilities.

The Mayor concluded by saying that besides providing more adequate spaces with increased accessibility and comfort to the residents of the locality, this project will also result in added space that connects the church parvis with the playing field – providing an enhanced open space in the heart of the locality.
