FKNK calls for "proportionate penalties and fines" for illegal huntingHunters federation FKNK is calling for “proportionate and fair penalties and fines” for illegal hunting and trapping.

In a statement, the FKNK cited articles published in the local media over the past few days, said that it “cannot fail to comment on the lack of proportionality in the sentences given by the local Courts regarding the their respective gravity in relation to fines and punishments given to hunters and trappers.

“While the FKNK condemns any illegal act that takes place against the natural environment and its conservation, and can never defend any illegal act, one cannot help but notice the disparity,” it said.

It insisted that “each case must be evaluated on its impact and gravity.”

The FKNK concluded by saying that, “together with its legal team, the FKNK calls on the legislator to make valuable and adequate amendments that contemplate punishments and fines that are socially proportionate, fair and appropriate according to the crime and the gravity of the case.”
