A French youth was critically injured on Friday afternoon after he fell the height of around three storeys at the Blue Lagoon, Comino.

Police said that the accident occurred at around 3.00pm when the 19-year old slipped while walking and landed on the rocks.

He was given first assistance by members of the Emergency Response & Rescue Corps before being taken to Mgarr in Gozo, from where he was transferred to the Gozo General Hospital.

Duty Magistrate Simone Grech is leading an inquiry.

Police investigations are ongoing.
