HSBC staff members are going to be raising funds for the Service Dogs Malta Foundation and Hospice Malta.
They will be individually cycling, running, walking or swimming a distance of their choice in any location in Malta or Gozo, between Friday, the 8th and Sunday, the 10th of September.
They just need to choose which activity they will be doing, log their distance and be part of this great sports activity. Every km they cycle, run, walk or swim will be converted into points.
In turn, every point will be converted to €1, and the total amount collectively raised will be donated by the Sports and Social Committee to the Malta Service Dogs Foundation and Hospice Malta.
The Malta Service Dogs Foundation – Service dogs provide help increase the level of independence of a person with disability by helping them carry out daily living activities. They also provide therapy, companionship and a way to socially interact with others. Right now they have 13 service dogs.
Hospice Malta – Its primary role is to provide and promote palliative care for persons suffering from end-of-life cancer and motor neuron disease.
Throughout the years, as the awareness and the need for palliative care increased, Hospice Malta included other conditions within its mission statement so that presently, community-based services are also offered to patients suffering from end-of-life cardiac, respiratory, renal, liver diseases and most recently, Creutzfeldt Jacob disease and Multiple sclerosis.
The possibility of including other end-of-life diseases is also being constantly reviewed.
