Gozo's unemployment levels up again in SeptemberThe National Statistics Office latest data show that there were 71 people registering for work in Gozo during September, this was up 5 on the same month last year and up from 69 in August.

Of the 71 seeking employment, there were 51 males and 20 females. Last year the breakdown was 42 males and 24 females.

The highest age group seeking employment in Gozo were those aged 45 and over, with 28 looking for work – 19 males and 9 females. This was followed by the 30-44 age group, with 21 looking for work – 15 males and 6 females.

On a national level, the NSO said that the number of registered unemployed in September increased by 49 persons over September 2022 levels.

Males accounted for 69.0% of total registrants while females accounted for the remaining 31.0%.

The NSO also noted that increases in the registered unemployment levels were recorded in the majority of the age groups.

The number of registered persons with a disability increased by 13 persons over the same period in 2022.

The NSO said that clerical support jobs were the most common occupations sought by the registered unemployed.
