Almost 29,000 students in post-secondary and tertiary educationThere were a total of 28,645 students enrolled at post-secondary and tertiary levels of education in 2021-2022. This was an increase of 2.5% over the preceding academic year, the National Statistics Office said today.

The number of students enrolled in post-secondary levels stood at 9,610, whilst 19,035 were enrolled in tertiary education.

The majority of students enrolled at post-secondary and tertiary levels were females (55.1%).

The NSO said that males outnumbered females in post-secondary education by 1.3 percentage points, whilst there were more females enrolled in tertiary education than males by 16.1 percentage points.

It was noted that the most popular field of study at post-secondary vocational level was ‘Services’ (26.1%, whereas the most popular field of study at tertiary level was ‘Business, administration and law’ (27.3%).

Total foreigners accounted for 20.5% of the total students enrolled at post-secondary and tertiary levels, the NSO said.

The largest share of tertiary enrolments was composed of students aged between 20 and 24 years (39.4%).
