A 16-year old cyclist from Gharb, was grievously injured when he was struck by a car door that was being opened.

The accident happened at around 10.30am on Friday morning in Fortunato Mizzi Street.

Police said that the teenager was cycling in Victoria, when he was hit by a car door opening in his path.. The person in the car was a 67-year old man from Nadur.

The cyclist was given medical assistance at the scene before being taken to the Gozo General Hospital.

Police investigations are ongoing.
