Thanks to a timely intervention and representation to the Planning Authority by local eNGO Ghawdix, they have managed to save this historical niche from potential eventual destruction because of a proposed planning application.
The application – PA/03394/23 is for the demolishment of an old property in Triq ta’ Hida, Nadur.
The Case Officer has recommended refusal of the application, with the Board agenda date set for the 9th of January.
The description of work includes “to subdivide the existing property, to demolish the existing dwelling, to construct a terraced house with underlying garage and swimming pool and to install photovoltaic panels.”
Ghawdix stated that the proposed works which originally omitted reference to the niche, are now required to integrate and preserve this piece of our socio-religious heritage.
