Almost €4 million has been raised up to 9.30pm during the 2023 edition of L-Istrina which opened at midday at the Sports Complex in Marsa and in Independence Square, Victoria, Gozo.

Boxing Day is now synonymous with this annual charity fundraising 12-hour telethon, which last year raised €5,062,415.

The event is held to raise money in aid of the Malta Community Chest Fund, to be used for those who are less fortunate.

The 12-hour fundraiser, which will be the last for the Presidency of Dr George Vella, is being broadcast on all national television stations.
