1. More than ninety miniature maps of Malta and Gozo are currently on show at the Exhibitions’ Hall, St. Francis Square, Victoria.
The exhibition organised by Heritage Malta in collaboration with the Ministry for Gozo includes a unique collection of miniature maps of Malta and Gozo together with plans of Valletta and the three cities.
This is the first time that so many miniature maps are amassed under one exhibition roof, in an exhibition that has been described as the first of its kind ever. The importance of this exhibitions stems also from the fact that most of the maps exhibited are extremely rare and have been published in rare books which are being exhibited for the first time.
The majority of maps on show come from the Albert Ganado Map Collection owned by the National Museum of Fine Arts since July 2008 but includes also other maps and books from the National Collection and private collections.
2. A group of 45 students from 19 European countries, who were on a two-week visit to Malta to taste its traditions, history and social life, spent a day in Gozo. They visited various places of interest including the Citadel. Parliamentary Secretary Chris Said met the group at the Grand Hotel in Mgarr.
3. Michael Saliba on behalf of the organisers of The Bikers BBQ Night, a great evening for all bike enthusiasts, organised in aid of Arka Foundation, presented a cheque of Euro 2167 to Mgr Emanuel Curmi, Director of Arka Foundation, raised from the same activity.
Photo by Charles Spiteri shows the inauguration of the miniature maps of Malta and Gozo exhibition by Gozo Minister Giovanna Debono. Also seen are, left to right, Joseph Schiro’, Manager, Heritage Malta, Dr Albert Ganado, Bernadine Scicluna curator National Museum of Fine Arts, Minister Giovanna Debono and Joe Said, Chairman, Heritage Malta.
