During a meeting with the nine young members of the Youth Advisory Forum, Prime Minister Robert Abela said that their contribution to this platform could lead to better results for our country.

The Forum, consisting of nine young people, is chosen after a call for applications, and serve for a term of eighteen months. One of the members is nominated by the National Youth Council.

The Forum provides a platform for young people aged between 16 and 35 years to voice their opinions on issues which do not necessarily affect young people directly but are related to the country’s development and the welfare of its citizens.

The Prime Minister said that “our country is the place where the aspirations of Maltese and Gozitan youth can be achieved.”

He also stressed that this new platform is precisely the tool that will see that this is really accomplished.

“Aspirations are common. Young people want to have good jobs, to live in a beautiful country, in a clean country. Having quality time with family. A safe and tranquil country. And a beautiful environment,” said Dr. Abela.

He also said that the young people want a country in peace with its neighbouring countries and in the region around and around the rest of the world.

The Prime Minister spoke about the Government’s work in this new year and gave a list of projects and initiatives that have been completed.

The meeting continued with a discussion with the members of the Forum on themes that they themselves put forward.

The Prime Minister is the Chairperson of the Forum.
