This February make time for some romance in your life and make some time to give blood…..

The National Blood Transfusion Service said that the need for blood is constant and with each donation you can help save up to 3 lives.

The Service is urging Gozitans to show their solidarity and please support sick patients in the hospitals of Gozo and Malta by making a donation on one of the four dates that are shown below during February, the first one being Tuesday, the 6th of February.

Did you know that every 5 minutes someone in hospital needs blood: Children undergoing cancer treatments; Patients having surgery; Mothers facing childbirth complications; People with blood disorders, like Thalassaemia; Individuals with traumatic injuries.

The NBTS stressed that the list could go on… “your help is needed to ensure hospitals have an adequate blood stock for patients in need.”

Donations can be made at the District Health Centre in Xewkija, located in Triq tall- Hamrija, between the Primary School and the Bocci Club:

Sundays – last registration 1:00pm

11th February from 8:00am-1:00pm

25th February from 8:00am-1:00pm

Tuesdays – last registration 5:00pm

6th February 1:00pm to 5:00pm

25th February 1:00pm to 5:00pm.

Important notes from the National Blood Transfusion Service

• Bring your Maltese ID Card, driving licence or passport.

• Drink some water before your donation .

• Wear loose fitting clothes/sleeves.

• The face mask is still mandatory.
