There were 91 cases of domestic violence reported in Gozo last year, Home Affairs Minister Byron Camilleri has said.
The Minister went on to say that the Police Force is currently working to set up a team of officers to deal with cases of domestic violence in Gozo.
Minister Camilleri was replying to a Parliamentary Question from Opposition Spokesperson for Gozo Alex Borg, who had asked if a Domestic Violence Unit is available in Gozo.
The Minister went on to say that the Police Force established the Gender based and domestic violence unit within it so that the service offered is more specialised. He added that last year in Malta there were 2,071 cases of domestic violence reported.
