Over 10,000 people have applied for the free of charge personalised Tallinja Card, since it was first announced on the 21st of January.
Transport Minister Chris Bonnet said, “we will continue working to incentivise the use of public transport with everyone.”
Transport Malta had announced a limited-time initiative, allowing individuals to obtain a personalised Tallinja Card free of charge during the month of February.
The Tallinja Card will now be available without any administrative fees throughout the entire month.
Starting January the 22nd, alterations were also implemented in the fare structure of public transport services for individuals without the Tallinja Card (Tallinja Card Adult, Child, Student, Gozo, and Concession).
Transport Malta said that “it is important to note that the existing tariffs were instituted in 2015 and have not undergone any revision since then.”
