Transport Malta has announced a limited-time initiative, starting from tomorrow, allowing individuals to obtain a personalised Tallinja Card free of charge during the month of February.

The Tallinja Card, an essential document for accessing free public transport services, will now be available without any administrative fees throughout the entire month.

Transport Malta said that this initiative is part of a broader strategy aimed at encouraging the use of alternative transportation methods and reducing reliance on private vehicles.

Following successful discussions with the public transport operator, the Authority said that it is “confident that this exemption from administrative fees will be a significant incentive for individuals who have not yet acquired a Tallinja Card.”

Starting January the 22nd, alterations will also be implemented in the fare structure of public transport services for individuals without the Tallinja Card (Tallinja Card Adult, Child, Student, Gozo, and Concession).

Transport Malta said that “it is important to note that the existing tariffs were instituted in 2015 and have not undergone any revision since then.”
