Outbound tourist trips in 2023 reached 814,005 (+35.3%) while total nights spent surpassed 5.6 million nights (+33.9%), the National Statistics Office said today.

It noted that total tourism expenditure for 2023 was estimated at €734.8 million (+42.0%) while expenditure per capita stood at €903 (+5.0%).

Outbound tourist trips from October to December 2023 reached 218,288 (+21.1%), while total nights spent amounted to 1,494,943 nights (+23.1%).

Italy once again remained the most popular destination with a share of 33.3%.

The majority of guest nights (54.6 per cent) were spent in non-rented accommodation establishments, the NSO said.
