Minister for Health and Active Ageing Jo Etienne Abela has said that, the average recurring cost for each patient admitted to the Gozo General Hospital who are waiting to be transferred to a nursing home is €256.23 per day.

He went on to say that the average cost of a geriatric bed in Mater Dei hospital is €180 per day, however “this amount increases depending on the treatment a patient is receiving.”

The Minister was replying to a parliamentary question put by Opposition MP Chris Said on the average recurring cost for each hospitalised patient waiting to be transferred to a nursing home.
