The stories covered in this weeks issue are:
1. 259 students attended the opening ceremony of the school year in the Minor Seminary, Rabat, Gozo.
The Ceremony began with a celebration of Mass led by the Rector of the Seminary of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, Fr Daniel Xerri, together with Fr Noel Saliba the Head of School, Dun Michael Said the Assistant Head, Fr Edward Vella and Mgr. Lawrence Sciberras.
The first lesson was read by Felix Micallef of Victoria, while Matthew Bajada from Gharb read the Psalm. Fr Noel Saliba read the Gospel.
The singing was conducted by Dorienne Portelli of Victoria and Nataline Attard of Xaghra. The student orchestra under the direction of Ivan Farrugia, of Xewkija, also participated in the opening ceremony.
2. A group of thirty youths from the Don Bosco Oratory of Victoria, has just returned from an exchange visit in England hosted by a group of English youths from the Holy Cross High Catholic School in Chorley, under the E.U. Youth in Action Programme. The project focused on the theme “Changing Life-Styles and Environmental Challenges.”
During the project Gozitan and English youths participated in meetings, discussions and activities and had the opportunity to visit places in the area of Lancashire related to the project theme.
3. The Capuchin friars celebrated the feast of St.Francis of Assisi at their Sanctuary of Our Lady of Grace in Victoria. Mgr. Carmelo Refalo, Archpriest of Xaghra, led a solemn concelebrated mass and delivered the homily. The Fjur t’Assisi Choir under the direction of Marita Cassar also participated. Afterwards, Archpriest Refalo and Fr Guardian Carm Dimech, OFM. Cap. blessed pets and animals on the church parvis.
