The first phase of Citadel masterplan concluded After years of gathering information on various aspects of the Citadel, the first phase of the the Master Plan for the Citadel has now been concluded.

The information gathered was presented to stakeholders at a meeting held at the Citadel, experts who had been working on the first phase spoke about the information they had collected during the year. They explained that they had gathered information on various aspects including military architecture, archeology, flora and fauna, the use of the land, traffic, tourism and management of the site.

The Master Plan project is co-financed by the European Economic Area and should be finalised within six months.

The Minister for Gozo, Giovanna Debono, addressed the meeting and said that the masterplan will help advise on what will be the best measures on how the site can be better preserved and used to it’s full potential. She also said that Citadel will also benefit from other funds co-financed by the European Union, through the European Regional Development Fund for the restoration of the walls of the Citadel.
