'EKU Mill-Munxar Dari u llum' festival this weekend Munxar Local Council, in collaboration with the Parliamentary Secretariat for Public Information and with the participation of the Ministry for Gozo, will organise a cultural event from the 16th to the 18th of October, called ‘EKU Mill-Munxar.. Dari u llum.’

This was announced in a meeting with the Parliamentary Secretary responsible for Local Councils, Chris Said. Dr Said said that these small cultural events held in villages in Gozo and Malta, serve to attract locals and visitors alike.

The three days of continuous activity, will open in Xlendi, on Friday the 16th of October with a concert from the Big Band Brother starting at 7.30pm. At the same time an exhibition opens by Italian artist Sergio Favotto, the theme is related to the life of St. Paul called San Paolo di Cristo Messaggiero.

On Saturday, the 17th of October, all attention will be centered in the large square in front of the parish church of Munxar, dedicated to St. Paul’s Shipwreck. During the day, the public is invited to visit the numerous stands displaying typical and traditional Maltese crafts.

At 7.00pm on Saturday evening there will be a spectacle of dance from various Gozitan folk groups and at 8.30pm there will be a concert from the Bessell Big Band from Germany. Immediately after, at 9.30 pm, another concert starts with the Versatile Band.

Both Friday and Saturday’s activities will conclude with a gound fireworks display which have been produced from around Malta and Gozo.

The festival will reach it’s climax on Sunday, the 18th of October, beginning at 10.00am, at the Parish Church. There will be a festive Mass of St. Paul with the participation of Maltese and Gozitan singers, with ages ranging from 10 to 70 years. During the Mass verses will be read that were written by Prof. Oliver Friggieri, Frans Baldacchino “the Budaj” and Mario Azzopardi.

Meanwhile, earlier, from 7.00am onwards, an exhibition of animals will be held and a display of vintage vehicles will take place between 9.30 am and 12.30 p.m, together with another exhibition of classic motorcycles.

The public is invited to visit the flour mill at Xlendi and it will be open on Friday, the 16th of October, between 6.00pm and 8.00pm, Saturday from 10.00am until 3.00pm and during the day on Sunday between 10.00am and 3.00pm.
