The young harpist from Foggia, Marianna Magnatta, recently performed her debut concert in Gozo, following her graduation in the Harp from the ‘E.R.Duni’ Conservatory of Music in Matera, Italy in March.
The concert, which was held in chapel of Lourdes, Mgarr, Gozo, in front of a appreciative audience, opened with an address from her younger brother Saverio.
Marianna played Etude no. 3 by F. Godefroid followed by Impromptu op 13 by E. Schuecker. Young Ghajnsielem tenor Angelo Muscat, accompanied by the harpist, sang Schubert’s Ave Maria.
Then, Marianna played two English pieces, first the traditional song Greensleeves and then, The Little Fountain by the composer S.O. Pratt.
Angelo Muscat then sang the Panis Angelicus once again accompanied by the harp. The two pieces that concluded the concert were Il Sonatino by F.J.Naderman and Etude Impromptu op 37 by L.M. Germans.
This concert was another initiative of the JP2 Cultural Foundation with the collaboration of the Ghajnsielem Local Council, the Rector of the Chapel Monsignor Renato Borg, the Bezzina and Haber families and the Italian Community living in Gozo.
In this chapel Monsignor Borg says Holy Mass every week for the Italians living on the island of Gozo.
