The Malta Ranger Unit said that the are seeing an ”increase in environmental crimes in Gozo, but also an increase in persons showing a great interest in joining our Unit and becoming Volunteer Rangers.”

MRU is therefore setting up a full-scale Volunteer Ranger Unit in Gozo, with the hopes that such Unit in the near future would be fully operational 24/7.

”The Unit would educate the public on environmental laws and deter/report crimes during their patrols in nature leading to a cleaner and more biodiverse nature in Gozo,” the MRU said.

The requirement for anyone interested in applying are:

Over 18 years old

Love long treks in the countryside

Good communication skills

Well-spoken in English or/and Maltese

Willing to, after being trained, report environmental crimes to the Authorities

Have at least one day weekly to dedicate to the cause of safeguarding nature
