Arnold Cassola, the Independent MEP candidate, has alleged electoral fraud in Xewkija, Gozo, and is calling on the Police and Electoral Commissioner to investigate.
In a statement, Cassola said that he had ”received reports that persons resident in certain villages in Gozo have transferred their residence to another village where they do not reside in order to be able to vote for a certain candidate.”
He went on say that he had ”been informed that the Police have delivered Local Council voting documents to addresses in Xewkija, when the persons involved actually reside in another village.”
Cassola added that ”some of the persons really residing at these Xewkija addresses have refused to accept the voting documents of other persons registered at their Xewkija address. Is this also happening in other Gozitan villages?”
He questioned if this a mistake on the part of the Electoral Commission computing system, ”or were these addresses changed deliberately to bolster the votes of a particular Xewkija candidate.”
