Cardinal Mario Grech, Nathalie Becquart, and Luis Marín De San Martín welcomed the Maltese bishops on Thursday as part of their Ad Limina visit.

The Maltese Episcopal Conference discussed their synodal journey and identified three priority areas in their walking together, with a focus on formation, supporting migrants, and reaching marginalised groups.

Firstly, they emphasised the importance of formation in a synodal style, focusing on spiritual conversation, communal discernment, and facilitators.

Secondly, the need to support migrants in Malta, addressing their spiritual needs and promoting integration within the local community.

Lastly, they underscored the importance of reaching out to marginalised groups, particularly amidst challenges like the rise in cannabis use among youth.

The Church in Malta said that it is also enhancing its decision-making process, strengthening parish services, and developing new ministries like Digital Presence and LOGOS.
